Organics Waste Assembly by County of Simcoe

Students will participate in an interactive assembly presented by the County of Simcoe focused on organics waste and environmental stewardship. Through engaging activities and discussions, students will learn what belongs in the green bin, why diverting food waste from landfills is important, and how small actions can make a positive impact on our environment. This presentation supports our commitment to sustainability and helps students become responsible environmental citizens.

Late Arrival Reminder

To help ensure student safety and a smooth start to the school day, please note that the side gates close at 9:20 a.m.. If your child arrives after the second bell, please drop them off at the front entrance so they can enter through the office. Our educators are supervising students and beginning instructional time at 9:20 am and are not available to monitor late arrivals at the side entrances. Thank you for your support and cooperation.

A Week of Meaningful Indigenous Learning at Forest Hill Public School
We are excited to share that during the week of October 26-30, our school community will have the opportunity to participate in a week of meaningful Indigenous Education learning experiences. Kristin Chen, a Teacher Candidate from Lakehead University, will be sharing teachings and lessons with our students to help deepen their understanding of Indigenous perspectives, cultures, traditions, and ways of knowing.

Throughout the week, classes will have the opportunity to participate in a 45-minute learning session focused on one of the following topics:

🌿 The 7 Grandfather Teachings
Values and relationships that each animal teaches us
🧭 The Medicine Wheel
Understanding balance, wellness, and interconnectedness
🐢 Turtle Island and the 13 Moons
Seasonal knowledge and living in relationship with the land
🦅 The Creation Story and the Ojibwe Clan System
Exploring community, identity, and the responsibilities of each clan
🌱 The Four Sacred Medicines and Introduction to Sit Spots
Learning about planting, harvesting, traditional knowledge, and our relationship with the natural world
These learning opportunities support our school's ongoing commitment to Truth and Reconciliation by fostering respect, understanding, and appreciation for Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives.
If you have any questions about your child's participation, please reach out to your student's educator.
Thank you for supporting this important learning journey. Miigwech.
